How is it Historical?
Being the fact that i just finished my exams for AICE Classical Studies i think its right for me to write and research on the History Genre of all too choose.
Stories based on historically significant figures and events make up the historical drama film genre. Some historical dramas are docudramas, which attempt an accurate portrayal of a historical event or biography, to the degree that the available historical research will allow. No, History is not one of the most popular genres today, but it definitely does approach interesting points to others as it has lots of information and you learn on a certain topic as you watch the film. Also, Historical movies often click with audiences simply because they are compelling stories.

For authenticity, historical novels attempt to depict every aspect of the past, including social mores, etiquette, traditions, and customs. Most history films are based on specific true events but some can be edited to have different outcomes and events going on during the film. A genre that is defined by its cultural and historical usage, whose features and definition are formulated from the observation of preexisting literary knowledge. There is obviously different types of History films including: Historical Dramas, History Action Movies, Romantic History Movies, etc. An Example of a historical film that shows a total true story from the past is " The Good Nurse " The good nurse uses names, dates, knowledge and research to exactly picture the same scenario on the situation the film talks on.
Example: The film " The Good Nurse " is a 2022 film on a complete true story from the 1900's till the early 2000's . The Good Nurse Reveals a Disturbing True Story about a serial killer nurse allowed to move through a broken healthcare system.
Production Techniques: Film analysis is guided by various approaches, and the four traditional approaches to film history include: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social-historical. Throughout the production Sounds are used to attempt to let the viewers be in the scenario taking place during the films. An example would be during the movie " Troy " during battle one can hear loud yelling, swords colliding, men collapsing, etc. these are all ways that the production is trying to get you more attached to the film and attempting to make you generally analyze what is truly going on in this scene.
Despite the fact that a variety of film genres can be categorized as historical, the historical genre is made up of dramatic feature films in which the main plot is based on real historical events or in which an imagined plot develops in a way that makes real historical events essential and integral to the narrative. This broad, plot-based description of the genre reflects the distinctive and particular qualities of the historical film, which depends for its relevance and meaning on a sequence of events historical events that take place outside the fictional world of the film
Marketing: The war film is one of the great modes of cinematic expression. Many war films have been lauded for their realism and their focus on the cruelties of war, as well as for their portraits of heroism. A history of movie trailers reveals how filmmakers have made marketing part of their art. The main purpose of the historical genre is to provide readers or viewers a chance to see history from a different perspective. The target audience of the History genre can be any way from students to adults. there can't really be a specific target as these films can be used for many reasons. You can be a student learning on a subject so you watch a historical film on it or you can be a adult wanting to know about events that happened in the past as well. The target audience can be a mix from different genders and ages. A common theme in many Historical films are swords, wars, battles, kings, gods, etc. They can use these different items to market in different ways.

The film 1917 (2019) takes place During World War I, two British soldiers Lance Cpl. Schofield and Lance Cpl. Blake receive seemingly impossible orders. In a race against time, they must cross over into enemy territory to deliver a message that could potentially save over 1,000 of their fellow comrades -- including Blake's own brother. the message of the film is The Innocence That War Destroys. Tucked into the plot of Sam Mendes's new film is a portrayal of the youth and innocence that is so readily destroyed in war. 1917 won a number of accolades across the world and deservingly so. It won Oscars for cinematography, sound editing, and visual effects, and was a serious contender for the best picture.The Revenant (2015) A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. While exploring uncharted wilderness in 1823, legendary frontiersman Hugh Glass sustains injuries from a brutal bear attack. The Revenant, at it's heart is a simple revenge story of a man who gets betrayed by his companions. The film required an actor who could convincingly portray what nature does to a man alone in the wilderness. Leonardo spent months in freezing temperatures for shooting this film. With full signs of dedication and want the film was successfully completed and ended up winning lots of rewards. The Revenant received twelve nominations at the 88th Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It won Best Director, Best Cinematography , and Best Actor (DiCaprio).
